China and Tanzania have agreed to strengthen cooperation across multiple areas as Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi continued his African tour in Dar es Salaam, officials said.
In talks with Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and senior government representatives, Wang highlighted the long‑standing relationship between Beijing and Dodoma, emphasising mutual support and shared goals in economic and diplomatic engagement. Both sides said they would deepen collaboration in sectors including infrastructure, trade, and people‑to‑people exchanges.
Tanzanian leaders welcomed China’s ongoing support for national development and reaffirmed the country’s adherence to the one‑China policy. They also expressed interest in advancing strategic projects such as the revitalisation of the Tanzania‑Zambia Railway, which is seen as a driver of regional connectivity and growth.
Wang described the bilateral ties as grounded in mutual trust and respect, saying the two countries should work together to promote stability, sustainable development and shared prosperity. He also noted China’s readiness to support Tanzania’s broader role in regional and international affairs.
The visit underscores China’s focus on reinforcing its partnerships in Africa amid broader geopolitical competition, as Beijing seeks to expand economic links and political cooperation with key continental partners.
