Côte d’Ivoire Cabinet Resigns Ahead of New Government Formation
Ivory Coast President Alassane Ouattara and cabinet
President Alassane Ouattara has accepted the resignation of Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé and his entire cabinet, clearing the way for the formation of a new government following last month’s legislative elections.
In a statement on Wednesday, the presidency confirmed the cabinet members will remain in their posts on an interim basis until a new prime minister and government are appointed.
The resignations follow the ruling party, the Rally of Houphouëtists for Democracy and Peace, securing a strong majority in the National Assembly during elections held on December 27. Several outgoing ministers won parliamentary seats and are expected to take their places when the new assembly is inaugurated.
The president’s decision reflects standard post-election protocol, as leadership changes often occur to align the executive branch with the newly elected legislature.
Officials have not yet announced a timeline for the appointment of a new prime minister, but political observers expect announcements in the coming weeks as the government reshapes its agenda.
Analysts say the shift may signal renewed focus on domestic priorities, including economic recovery and implementation of legislative mandates following the polls.
