Putin considers Trump’s invitation to join the peace board.

On Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin said Russia would consider US President Donald Trump’s invitation to join his “Board of Peace.”

Putin said during a televised government meeting that the Russian foreign ministry has been tasked with reviewing the documents sent to them and discussing the matter with strategic partners. Only after that, he added, will they be able to respond to the invitation.

He said that Russia could pay the billion dollars being asked for permanent membership “from the Russian assets frozen under the previous American administration”.

He added that the assets could also be used “to reconstruct the territories damaged by the hostilities, after the conclusion of a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine”.

Invites were sent to dozens of world leaders with a request for $1 billion for a permanent seat on the board.

While the board was initially created to oversee Gaza’s reconstruction, its charter doesn’t seem confined to the Strip and appears to aim at rivaling the United Nations, sparking criticism from some US allies, including France.
