Egypt, Qatar renew Gaza ceasefire efforts
Egypt and Qatar have renewed efforts to secure the implementation of the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, as mediators continue discussions aimed at reducing tensions in the Palestinian territory.
The two countries, which have played key roles in mediation efforts since the start of the conflict, said attention remains focused on ensuring that commitments made under the ceasefire arrangement are carried out by all parties involved.
According to statements issued following diplomatic consultations, officials discussed measures to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance, support prisoner and hostage exchange arrangements, and maintain conditions necessary for the continuation of the truce.
Egypt and Qatar have been central to negotiations involving Israel, Hamas and international partners seeking to end hostilities and address the humanitarian situation in Gaza. Both countries have repeatedly called for adherence to agreed terms and for sustained efforts to prevent a return to large-scale fighting.
The latest consultations come amid ongoing international concern over the humanitarian impact of the conflict and calls for increased aid access to affected communities. Mediators have stressed the importance of implementing existing agreements as a foundation for broader negotiations.
Officials from both countries reaffirmed their commitment to working with regional and international stakeholders to support diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving stability in the region.
No announcement has been made regarding the timeline for the next phase of negotiations or any additional agreements.
