Nigerian Programmer Wins Silver At High-Tech Championship

Nigerian software programmer Olaniran Sikiru made history as part of the first-ever Nigerian team to compete in the High-Tech Championship Final in Veliky Novgorod, Russia, earning second place in the specialized Quality Control Specialist for Transport Logistics Processes category.

Taiwo was accompanied by his expert, Ojetimi Abdulfatai, also a Nigerian, who served as his mentor and technical expert throughout the competition. While Taiwo competed as the official competitor representing Nigeria, the duo worked together to showcase Nigeria’s talent on the international stage.

This marks the first time Nigeria has ever been represented and competed at the prestigious High-Tech Championship, a milestone for the country in international professional skills competition.

Held from 14 to 18 September 2026, the championship brought together more than 15,000 participants from 30 foreign countries, in addition to representatives from all 89 regions of the Russian Federation, featuring competitions across 20 high-tech competencies.

Taiwo’s second-place finish places him among the top performers in his discipline at an international competition focused on the technologies and professional skills shaping the future of transportation and logistics.

A software programmer by profession, Taiwo brought his technology background to a specialised international competition at the intersection of technology, logistics, quality control and modern transportation systems.

His competency, Quality Control Specialist for Transport Logistics Processes, focuses on the application of professional and technological approaches to maintaining quality and efficiency across transport and logistics operations.
