Sudan Army Reports Major RSF Losses

The Sudanese army says it killed dozens of fighters from the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and destroyed 141 combat vehicles during military operations carried out across several parts of the country in the first half of June.

In a statement posted on X, the army said operations conducted between June 1 and June 14 targeted RSF positions in Darfur, Kordofan, Blue Nile and White Nile states. According to the military, the attacks destroyed vehicles, weapons depots and military supplies used by the paramilitary group.

The army said 29 RSF combat vehicles were destroyed in Darfur, where it also reported attacks on ammunition depots, fuel storage facilities and drone-related infrastructure in Nyala, one of the region’s major cities. In Kordofan, the military claimed to have destroyed 91 vehicles, while a further 21 were reportedly destroyed in Blue Nile State.

The military also said it shot down an RSF drone over Kenana in White Nile State. The claims could not be independently verified, and the RSF had not commented on the statement as of Sunday.

Sudan has been at war since April 2023, when tensions between the army and the RSF escalated into open conflict over plans to integrate the paramilitary force into the national military. The fighting has triggered a humanitarian crisis, with millions displaced and large parts of the country affected by violence.

The conflict continues despite repeated international calls for a ceasefire and political settlement.
