Trump warns he’ll open fire on boats planting mines as tensions rise in the Strait of Hormuz.

President Donald Trump has instructed the US Navy to “shoot and kill” any Iranian boats found placing mines in the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile, Iran’s top negotiator announced that Tehran has collected its first revenue from tolls on ships passing through the strait. Both nations view this crucial waterway as key to negotiations, and oil prices have climbed further amid the standoff.

Trump said the pressure is on Iran to strike a deal to end the war, insisting he has “all the time in the world.” The US president voiced frustration with Tehran earlier Thursday as he waits for a response to his call for a “unified” peace plan.

The US will host a second round of talks between Middle Eastern neighbors on Thursday, during a fragile ceasefire in Lebanon marked by clashes between Israel and the Iran-backed Hezbollah.

The Israeli army has been burning houses in southern Lebanon since the early hours of Thursday, the National News Agency (NNA) said.

NNA said the burning was taking place in area of Mais Al-Jabal in Marjayoun, south of the country, seen as a Hezbollah heartland.

CNN reached out to the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) for comment.

Israel’s military meanwhile said they intercepted a drone fired from southern Lebanon on Thursday.

A 10-day ceasefire is in place in Lebanon after fighting erupted between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah, but there have been accusations of violations from both sides.

Israeli and Lebanese representatives meet later today in Washington to try to seek an extension of the truce.
