Turkiye Donates Science Labs to Ugandan School

A newly constructed secondary school in Uganda has received science and information technology laboratories donated by Turkiye through its development agency, TİKA, in a move aimed at strengthening access to quality education and digital learning.

The facilities were officially inaugurated on Wednesday by Turkish Ambassador to Uganda Fatih Ak, at SENA High School in the Wamala area near Kampala. The laboratories include equipment for physics, chemistry and information technology studies and are expected to support practical learning for hundreds of students.

Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Ambassador Ak described the project as a symbol of growing cooperation between Türkiye and Uganda. He said the investment would help provide young Ugandans with access to modern educational facilities and prepare them for opportunities in an increasingly technology-driven world.

TİKA officials said the laboratories were equipped with tools designed to enhance science education and improve students’ digital literacy. The agency noted that the project aligns with Uganda’s efforts to expand technology-based learning and strengthen educational outcomes.

School administrators welcomed the development, saying the facilities would improve the quality of teaching and provide students with greater opportunities for scientific research and innovation.

The project forms part of broader educational and development cooperation between Türkiye and Uganda, which has expanded in recent years through investments in education, training and community development initiatives.
