Senegal Unveils New Government Cabinet
The president of Senegal, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, has announced a new cabinet following a government reshuffle that has altered the composition of Senegal’s executive administration.
The new cabinet was unveiled in Dakar and includes appointments across several ministries responsible for finance, infrastructure, education, health and foreign affairs. The changes follow the dismissal of Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko and the dissolution of the previous government.
In a statement announcing the appointments, the Presidency said the reshuffle was intended to improve government operations and support the implementation of the administration’s priorities. Several ministers retained their positions, while others were replaced as part of the reorganisation.
The development comes at a time when the government is pursuing reforms in public administration and economic management. Political observers in Senegal have closely followed relations within the country’s leadership since President Faye assumed office in 2024.
The cabinet announcement marks one of the most significant changes to the government since the current administration took office. Newly appointed ministers are expected to begin work immediately.
The Presidency has not indicated whether additional appointments or administrative changes will follow the reshuffle.
