Tunisia Arrests Senior Opposition Figures

Tunisian authorities have arrested several senior opposition figures following security operations carried out in Tunis and other parts of the country.
Authorities said the arrests were linked to investigations involving alleged conspiracy and national security offences.
Lawyers representing some of those arrested denied the allegations against their clients.
President Kais Saied has defended actions taken by his administration, saying the government is working to fight corruption and maintain stability in the country.
Human rights organisations criticised the arrests and raised concerns over political freedoms and democratic systems in Tunisia.
Tunisia has experienced major political changes since President Saied suspended parliament in 2021 and introduced constitutional reforms that expanded presidential powers in the nation.
