 US Revokes Over 175,000 Visas

The United States has revoked more than 175,000 visas under President Donald Trump’s administration as part of its broader immigration crackdown, the US State Department said on Monday.

The department said the cancellations involved foreign nationals who violated visa conditions, committed crimes, called for violence against US citizens, defrauded Americans, misused the immigration system or raised national security concerns.

Most of the revocations followed encounters with law enforcement, with assault, driving under the influence, theft and drug-related offences among the leading reasons. The State Department also cited cases involving people charged with rape and sexual battery, kidnapping, human trafficking and possession of child sexual abuse material.

A US embassy in North Africa separately revoked more than 100 visas belonging to parents accused of travelling to the United States primarily to give birth so their children could obtain US citizenship. The department also said it had cancelled the visas of several foreigners who publicly celebrated the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

The latest figure exceeds the more than 100,000 visa revocations announced by the State Department in January, which was described at the time as a record.

The cancellations come as the Trump administration continues to tighten immigration enforcement through stricter visa screening, expanded social media checks and increased deportations. The State Department did not provide a breakdown of the latest revocations by country.
