Super Eagles of Nigeria Coach Gets New Contract
The National Sport Commission (NSC), the body in charge of sports administration in Nigeria, has renewed the contract agreement with Eric Chelle, the Franco-Malian Coach of the Super Eagles.
Eric Sekkou Chelle initial two years contract expires at the end of 2026. However, the new development means he will be in charge of the Super Eagles, beyond this year. He will also have to handle the Nigerian Olympic male football team, the Dream Team.
The NSC on Tuesday announced that the Super Eagles head Coach Eric Chelle will remain in charge of the Super Eagles and Olympic team, thus ending months of speculation and uncertainty as per the future of the Coach and the Super Eagles. The disclosure was made by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko after a meeting with officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Chelle had led the Nigeria side to a third place finish at the last AFCON in Morocco. Chelle had afterwards asked for $130,000 monthly salary, which covers the pay for his assistants.
Speaking with the press, the NSC Chairman said “We have reached new terms with the Coach about his new remuneration. We are also going to take care of his assistants, and there are other benchmarks that we have put on the table, and I’m sure the Coach will be very excited about it.
